The Bearskinner
They say that when a man gives up hope, the devil walks at his side. So begins this story. A soldier marched through a dark wood, and he did not march alone...
A classic Brother's Grimm tale of the soldier who has lost everything to war: his family and friends, his youth, and innocence. When the devil wraps him in a dead bear's skin, fills his pockets with gold and makes a treacherous wager, so begins his seven year journey of dirt and riches.
In this contemporary adaptation, fragmented stories from the devil's mistresses come to life with a catchy tune, a violent streak, a has-been and a drunken forest.
Vividly re-imagined through comedy and live music The Bearskinner is a haunting tale that explores the subtle but relentless struggle between the two sides of ourselves.
This is the first collaboration between The Duck House (The Swallow-Tailed Coat, Oscar, The Oresteia) and The Wet Weather Ensemble (A Reptile Dreamed).
